Trademark vs. patent
Tonight in a discussion with a friend about the absurdity of patents, I came across the story that Gareth Bale, – a (seemingly) famous football player who recently was acquired by Real Madrid, – did trademark the “heart sign”, whereas I was wondering if this is in any contradiction to the recent patent, which Google got for the “heart shape”!??
The question remains: How many ways of perversion can trademarking and patenting still offer?
That is the reason why Italians gesticulate less in the last years, while talking. Due to the economic crisis in their country they can no more afford to pay all the patents for the gesture they use, when it comes to an animated talk. You do not want a bill in a coffee house which looks like this: espresso 2x Euro 2, cornetto 2x Euro 1, patented gestures 12x Euro 24.
