CCC proudly announces honorary members Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden

Congratulations, CCC!

Chaos Computer Club supports Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden
2014-08-24 00:52:00, 46halbe

Since its founding more than thirty years ago, the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) holds strong beliefs in the freedom of information. Consequentially, freedom fighters and whistleblowers deserve our utmost respect and support. For this reason we will help the European legal team of Edward Snowden financially.

Asylum, legal counsel and protection are costly. This is why we decided to support Snowden’s six European lawyers with 36.000 Euro to cover their expenses. Earlier this year, the CCC general assembly also decided to offer Edward Snowden the honorary membership, which he accepted gladly.

“The long lasting dedication of the CCC and others for citizen’s rights and against mass surveillance paved the road for a broad public debate after Edward Snowden’s revelations”, said Snowden’s German lawyer, Wolfgang Kaleck. “Both the commitment as well as the support for Snowden require perseverance. The financial support provided will help sustain these efforts.”

Edward Snowden is the source of many leaks about the so-called Intelligence Community and their hacking and surveillance operations, which made news headlines all over the world. He ignited the necessary global discussion by informing journalists about how much and how deeply we are being spied on by the NSA and their partners, how they infiltrate telecommunication and Internet service providers. One of our central claims and part of our hacker ethics is: “Public data should be utilized, private data should be protected.” Edward Snowden had the guts to live by our principles.

Undoubtedly, Chelsea Manning’s courageous actions also stand in line with these values of ours. To express our support and respect, the CCC bi-annual general assembly unanimously voted for offering her the honorary membership. She agreed to accept our offer. Needless to say, it is an outstanding honor for us to count Chelsea Manning as one of us!

The former US private Chelsea Manning, stationed in Iraq in 2009 and 2010, was sentenced for violations of the Espionage Act and other offences in August 2013. Allegedly, she transferred hundreds of thousands of military and U.S. State Department documents and the infamous “collateral murder” video to Wikileaks. Detained as a political prisoner in 2010 under unduly harsh conditions without minimal standards of humane treatment and stripped of her clothing in custody every night, Manning is now serving a 35-year sentence for her courageous acts. Paradigm shift in international criminal prosecution

July 3rd, 2013 No comments

We needn’t discuss the fact that the United States represents the top delinquent against international law and human rights from their foundation until today. They have proven their pole position and rank of global criminal warlord repeatedly and sustainably…

The U.S. administration has yet understood that their strategies regarding criminal prosecution has its legal limitations when it comes to international law and, – therefore, – are introducing a orchestrated situation, confronting the global sovereign states with the dictation of their political agenda, where international criminal prosecution and law now is at stake. The unlawful head-hunt of Osama Bin Laden and his fellows brought them to a momentum where a paradigm shift is needed to continue prosecuting their “enemies” on an international level. Therefore they release a made-up “worst case” scenario with a puppet named Snowden to introduce a paradigm shift in international criminal prosecution.

The criminals used to be those who spied on their citizen, where after nowadays those are declared criminals who protect themselves from being spied on…

As long as the last 4 presidents of the United States are not being impeached for crimes on humankind in an international human rights court, the international laws on criminal prosecution can be declared obsolete!

Richard Stallman’s talk at ETHZ

October 18th, 2011 No comments

This evening Richard Stallman was giving a talk at the ETHZ. It was nice to see how the lecture hall was filled with young ICT students and hackers. Richard started his talk by saying that if anybody wants to record the talk or take pictures should publish it only by using free formats, such as ogg. – Well he’s substantially right by saying this. I was just wondering why it has to be said, as I think it’s self-evident.

It appears that even one of the most respected education institutes, such as the ETHZ, does not take Freedom for granted. And there lies the socio-political deception: Governments and regulation authorities have pushed surveillance and media control as far as we’re accepting debates about freedom to be discussed in mediocre circles. People using GNU/Linux are seen as outcast, rebels and extremists. – Though freedom ought to be one of the most basic principles of humankind!

There’s a massive lack of intellectuals and authors, interfering into the public political and cultural debates, as it has become difficult to avoid the mass media and, – therefore, – disinformation. The economical thirst for growth managed to incorporate writers and readers to subordinate their belief for the sake of media-control. Academics and brains subordinated with self-absorbed researches, funded by lobbyists and obscure organisations, to abandon their principles of liberty and freedom.

At the shift from information society to knowledge society, it’s not enough to just present the four freedoms of Free Software to the tomorrows system administrators and technoly adepts. Richard might be substantially right in his exposure of the principles of free software, while “Big Brother“, – as he calls it, – has ever since found new means of control. (Which are implemented into the todays information technology structures, without letting users know. Whereafter a large part of society argues “I’ve nothing to hide”!)
Richard seems to have become “commensurable” to a large audience, without being contradicted, without disruptive moments and “Etat de Siege“, which are needed to shake the public. – Literally!

Humankind has to understand that the dialectic rapidly has to change and that we’re not willing to be instrumentalised by capitalism. Culture is defined by self-determination, innovation, transparency, freedom and human rights. Richard, the whole free software and civil liberty society have to take the step to the next level and start to take back, 0wn and rule this planet!

Aus Zeit – Time? Out!

August 30th, 2011 No comments

Zeit LOGO(see english translation below)
… schade!

Good night and good luck!

English translation:
Shame! „Die Zeit“ http://zeit.de/ is being undermined as well. The „enriched“ reality has now taken hold of this piece of paper as well. Copy paste journalism seems be the only economical feasible way of processing information left to us. The fringe benefit of this tool, is that we are dependent on our own thinking, if we do not wish to impoverish our minds completely.

The LOL article regarding the discrediting of Daniel Domscheit-Berg was quite amusing to read, though the paper would better have published a report on Nyan Cat including a LOL-Cat DIY flip-book to cut-out and tinker one-self. This would have been much more phun!

And, where may I ask, is the so called “success” in the Libyan crisis, if it is not a neo imperialistic success of the oil drilling companies? http://www.zeit.de/2011/35/01-Libyen-Nato Do the „Die Zeit“ readers really believe that their interests were being fought for? Doesn’t it rather display the lobby of our English (including American), German and French weapon and oil industry, which were utilizing some Swiss ammunition companies and its banks to generate business through this war, being implemented over Saudi Arabia and Oman?

„Die Zeit“ is being misused for purposes of public discrediting, to shift focus of some fraudulent acts taking place along the global chess board. “Righteousness prevails, Justice at loss” . – LULZ! Who believes such a distorted interpretation? The inside details of this case can no longer be found in our « trusty » Wikileaks either, since Julian Assange and Daniel Domscheit instigated misunderstanding has closed-up such leaks of disclosure … For « DIE ZEIT », which concerns my own time, is now time-out!

Good night and good luck!

“Yes we can”? – WFT! – No he can’t!

The current president of the U.S. was dazzling his “fellow citizens” during his election campaign in 2008 with promises about change, making the citizens believe “they can”. Turns out that the holder of the nobel peace prize, which he got just for raising hope and not for his actions, is another hypocrite acting as warlord in the interest of neo-imperial terrorism, causing exploitation, indoctrination without respect to human laws and international agreements. – Just not keeping his promises.

Guantanamo Bay is still not closed, the war in Iraq has not ended, international corporations not held responsible for their financial and ecological disasters, but protected by the administration, the U.S. still have not accepted and ratified the Kyoto Protocol, Osama Bin Laden a hoax, etc. Now he’s the one to invoke the “Patriot Act” (ref.), – what a silly name for a law btw, – against Wikileaks to ensure his misgovernment remains intransparent. Total LULZ! Didn’t he promise he’ll dump this Act once he’s President?

Whether the United States are directed by a Democrat or a Republican, the jankies remain a horde of imperialists, culture destroyers and terrorists. In two weeks these creatures are going to celebrate their 10 years self-deception at “Ground Zero” and zero ground is the average intellectual level this country is being governed upon…

Julian thinks different

December 22nd, 2010 No comments

Another paradigm shift:

Julian thinks different – Apple doesn’t. It’s main stream!

1997: Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
